I occasionally get sleep paralysis and night terrors. Luckily, they aren’t too extreme. But, in the moment, ghostly visages and shapes swirling around in the dark or daylight (who doesn’t take lots of naps, right?) are disturbing when it feels like you’re awake. These can be separate experiences, but my sleep history has shown me paralysis and terrors often mingle! Here’s the science behind them. [via Live Science]

Hoaxes are simultaneously fun and frustrating. It can be fascinating to see a mystery revealed and how a ruse was orchestrated. But fakes also devalue the search for the truth. Looking at doctored paranormal photos can, however, help you develop a keener eye. [via Our Curious World]
