“YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU”

Most people think that I am extremely quiet. I know, I know – it’s hard to fathom since I am always waffling about something or the other either online or in person. But in all honesty, I have to admit that, over the years, life (and maturity) has taught me to close my mouth and to open my eyes and my ears instead.

There is a distinct difference between being shy versus being silent. Being shy keeps you withdrawn and energetically “contracted”. It keeps you hidden, separated and disconnected – often due to trauma developed through one’s early life experiences.

Being silent denotes introspection and an understanding of what you will or will not expose your energy to. Whilst it may keep you veiled, it is often an indication of being connected within. And yes, whilst there are moments in our lives where we need to stand up and speak out, there are also times in which we need to step back and be quiet. Being silent allows for stillness – and as we all know, it is in the silence that God speaks (“Be still and know that I am God”). So whilst it may seem that I haven’t said a word for hours on end (much to the delight of those around me), be assured that within me, a dialogue has certainly transpired. I may not have said a word but I have certainly been communicating…

One of these internal dialogues occurred a few days ago as I was driving to the local garden centre. I was on my way to get a few basil seedlings. You see, I recently stumbled upon the most delicious baked tuna pasta recipe and after using the dried version from my spice rack, I thought it was high time to add the fresh version to the herb garden. Even plants need new friends!

So here I was minding my own business, navigating traffic and pondering about basil seedlings, when a clear “thought/voice” popped into my head. I have resorted to calling them thought/voices – “TVs” for short. And just like a TV, these have clearly shown me pictures – either static or moving – throughout my life as I have described in my previous articles and have provided me guidance and clarity through situations in which I should have completely lost my mind.

“You have taken a long enough break.” the thought/voice interjected. “It is time to teach once again.”

“I know I have,” I said within, “but hopefully my updates and posts have still inspired people.”

“They have,” the thought/voice loving reassured, “but this is a year of recovery and healing for many. Teach them the five words that Jesus spoke: ‘YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU.’

Immediately after “hearing” this, an explosion of ideas, concepts and hidden meanings flooded my mind. And even in the midst of parking my car and walking through the garden centre, more and more still filtered through.

Now I have to categorically state I am NOT trying to convert anybody. We all walk our own path and all paths lead to Home. My foundation is Christianity and hence, it has become my point of reference. Your particular faith and walk through life is your foundation and your point of reference. Growing up, I have seen firsthand through my own church experiences how the Bible has been used to oppress people instead of liberate of them. The same can be said for any Holy Book, for that matter.

And prior to my own spiritual development and growth, I had followed the similar route of judgement because that is what I had been taught. But since being liberated within – through my own distinct and profound spiritual experiences – I have come to view the teachings in the Bible in a very different way. So after all of this, I begged God to always lead me to deep and hidden spiritual teachings using Biblical scriptures and references. In this way, I use the same tool but for a very different purpose.

Instead of alienation, I use it to bring inclusion. Instead of disconnection, I use it to bring union. Instead of division, I use it to bring cohesion. Instead of violence, I use it to promote peace. Instant of blatant hate, I use it to promote unconditional love.

And yes, if you ask honestly enough, you will find biblical scripture that will reference spiritual concepts such as reincarnation, manifestation, thought-creation energy and other aspects, as well as the simple but vital teachings of how to cope with day to day life.

The problem was never the Book. The problem was the agenda of the person holding the Book.

As I have mentioned above, this year is going to be one of healing for many – not just in body but in ALL aspects of one’s life. You may not have been responsible for the wound but you are responsible for your healing. Too often, we think of healing as being a linear process – where you’re sick one moment, then Poof! You’re healed and everything is the way it was before. But if you closely examine your life, you will begin to understand that after you overcame the greatest struggles of your life, you were never the same person you were before – and that’s a good thing. In order to be well, you first have to give up the things that make you sick. Healing, as with all things, is not a passive process. It is not something that “happens” to you, it must be INSISTED upon and although healing sounds wonderful and marvelous in all its glory, the fact of the matter is that it is initially a very traumatic experience. Yes, it’s downright wonderful to have a malignant tumour successfully removed but if you ask the patient, the healing from the surgery sometimes produces more pain than the tumour ever did. A healing broken bone also produces pain. So too does a healing cut or a healing gaping wound. So too, does a healing soul…

This is the truth of the matter – healing produces pain and it often feels worse before it gets better. We live at a time where we are encouraged to deny our pain and our feelings, thinking them as weak and inferior, yet they are the early signs of our greatest strength and greatest triumph. So if you are in intense pain in any area of your life, rejoice, for it is a clear indication that the process of healing is underway.

As I reflected about those five words which popped into my mind, I couldn’t help but be inundated with various thoughts, images, concepts and insights. I will reveal them to you as they were revealed to me.

Over and over and over again, whenever Jesus performed a miracle of healing, his response to it was extremely peculiar and strays away from what modern-day preachers “teach” us. Far too often, I have witnessed firsthand how well-meaning teachers of Jesus have said one thing at almost every service – “Jesus is healing you!”

And yes, I strongly believe in the healing power and abilities of Jesus BUT when you look at his response to almost EVERY healing miracle he performed, he never says, “I have healed you!” Instead, he said five words which changes the narrative and the experience for each and every single one of us…

He said, “YOUR faith has healed you.”

Most people would argue with me that it probably attests to his humility. However, everywhere else in the New Testament, Jesus makes bold, but accurate, claims of himself (“I am the light of the world”, “I am the Way, Truth and the Life” – to state but a few way). Most of his claims denote his identity both within himself and within Godhood and they also provided insight to his earthly missions and objectives. And whilst he has made those bold and undaunted statements about himself, not once did he ever claim to be the sole reason for somebody’s healing.

“Your faith has healed you.” So what does it all mean? Here is what was shown to me.

Your” – meaning belonged to or possessed by you. It highlights and denotes your ownership. It also indicates the starting point of the anticipated miracle.

“Faith” – on the surface, it indicates a strong belief in. But on a much deeper level, it eludes to your INNER KNOWING. It is your inner foundation – simply put, that which you are because you stand upon it. It is your inner conviction and your absolute truth.

“Be still and KNOW that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).What do you KNOW to be true for you? If you KNOW that the Lord is your Shepherd and that you shall not be in want, then so will it be. If you KNOW that goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life, then so it will be. If you KNOW that the Lord is your light and salvation, then so shall it be. All of these were David’s “knowings’ expressed through his Psalms and as a result, these were his experiences.

Once again, I ask, what do you KNOW to be true for you? “For ye shall KNOW the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32)

“Your faith” –  the two words side by side clearly illustrates how it begins and ends with you. You are author of your experience. You either call it forth or you push it further away from you.

“Has healed” – denotes that it is already in the past tense. It is already done according to your inner knowing and belief.

“Your faith has healed you” – The sentence, now viewed through deeper insight, indicates a wonderful and profound teaching by Jesus: that it all begins and ends with you. If you believe that he had the power to heal you, you would be healed. If you didn’t believe in his ability, he couldn’t because of the lack of faith/belief/inner knowing of the person. This is clearly stated in Matthew 13:58 – “And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.”

It is YOUR belief that draws your miracle to you! Even scientists know that in any randomized pharmaceutical trial where a new drug is being tested, even the control group (those given the placebo – that is, a completely inactive drug) would have a percentage of people who would demonstrate a degree of therapeutic response because they believed they were getting the active drug.

In the same way, you could believe in Jesus, Buddha, any of the various prophets and teachers or you could choose to believe that a single blade of grass in your backyard had mighty healing abilities and it would be so. All of these wonderful Masters are the vehicles through which the healing could come but it is YOUR faith/belief/knowing that is the gas that causes the acceleration of this healing.

So here’s to more healing, growing and glowing. Remember beloved, healing does not mean that the damage never existed. It means that the damage no longer has the power to control our lives.
