The Quirky Medium in Spain – Farewell knees up!

DIVINE TIMING!

Our pets were a priority in relation to the move but I couldn’t believe it when some people asked if we were giving them away!.  How could we even contemplate letting our furry family go who have loved us  unconditionally for ten years or so? As our dog Libby (who is now in spirit) was  elderly, we looked at the different options of pet travel. We felt that being in a cage in the dark hold of a plane would be too stressful, so we opted for sending them with registered pet carriers, by road.

Little did we know how stressful the wait was going to be? I explained to our Solicitor that we needed to agree a date for exchange of contracts as soon as possible as we had to organise pet transport, and the transport of our furniture,  as well as booking our flights yet nothing was happening within the property chain.  At the bottom of the chain was a first time buyer, then there were the buyers of our buyers!, and at the top of the chain, John and I. However, we were in a very delicate situation – we had so much to do, so much to organise because unlike the others, we were not moving locally or even in the same Country. I was still pushing for exchange of contracts but our buyer’s buyer kept coming up with excuses not to. The people who were buying our house were lovely, and were getting worried themselves – the lady, Claire, had given birth to her baby boy since first looking round our home and they had been round a couple of times to measure up for curtains etc. Weeks went by, and nothing…. We had to book our pets in because otherwise with it not being far from Easter, the pet carrier would be booked up, and we had to do the same regarding the furniture. We paid a lot of money out for both, in the faith that all would work out, and all the while, no exchange of contracts… I can’t tell you how many times I spoke to my Guardian Angel and Spirit Guides during that time, and they kept reassuring me that everything would be fine, all within  divine timing.

At long last, with our buyer threatening to pull out, everyone agreed on exchange of contracts, just 5 days before completion and our flight to Spain!!  Our pets had already left, but that is another story….

Farewell knees up!

On Friday 4th April 2014 we had a party – the very last one in our beloved home in Northwich, Cheshire. We invited all our friends and family. The house was bulging with lovely people, and many hugs were exchanged.  We literally had a ball and I would miss everyone more than they would ever know. Because there had been so much pressure and delays with exchange of  contracts we couldn’t get to see all our friends individually so this was the best way to see everyone at the same time.  It was so lovely seeing everyone, and my heart was pounding – we were leaving so many people who were dear to us – we were going to another country where we didn’t speak the language and only knew a couple of people.  I enjoyed myself but inside I was torn. Were we going to be alright? Eventually, I pulled myself together, had a couple of G & T’s. (Usually does the trick!). We were given so many beautiful gifts, and I couldn’t read all the messages in the cards properly through my tears, and yet all the while, the angels and my guides were telling me that this was a new chapter about to begin.

Pets are on their way!

The pet carrier turned up 3 days before we were due to fly out. This was my dread that my furry babies were going on a long journey with people they didn’t know, and I was so worried that they would think we had deserted them. The lady came in to ask me to sign the relevant papers, and then she brought in a little cage and put our big white furry girl Celeste into it, took her out to the van and put her in a bigger cage. The distressed meowing ensued…  Then she came in for Tara and my little tortoiseshell girl just walked into the cage (she is very nosy) and the door was closed. Two down, one to go, our beautiful old Labrador, Libby. Oh how my heart was breaking – although the angels were telling me they would be fine and in a few days, we would all be reunited in our new home in Spain.  They took Libby out, and I was in the house alone when I heard the cat flap bang. I jumped, and wondered if a stray cat had come through our cat flap. Only to see  Tara fly past me and into the conservatory. The poor little thing had escaped, and had come back to the only home she had ever known. Luckily the heavens had opened, it was thrashing it down with rain and for once, I was eternally grateful. If the weather had been nice, Tara would have run off and I dread to think what might have happened. I had to think fast, I shut the conservatory door so she couldn’t get into any other part of the house. I wasn’t happy with the lady for letting her escape and we all had to go through the drama of cornering Tara who by this time was frightened beyond belief. They caught her, and she was shut securely into the van. I went out to see them all before they left, and the dog looked at me forlornly and her mouth started trembling. I ran inside the house and broke my heart.   Once they had left, John couldn’t console me – I needed to be on my own, to work things out and talk to my beloved guides and angels.  How they must be so fed up of me!!

  1. Hi Fiona, bless you. Yes, if you read on, Libby Tara and Celeste all landed safely in Spain albeit in a bit of a state initially, but they soon settled in and loved being ex-pat cats and ex-pat Dog! I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I do putting them together. Our critters certainly worm their way into our hearts!.
Thank you so much for taking the time to send me your message. It’s so appreciated. Have a blessed day,

  2. Aw, I so get this and my heart breaks reading it! Need to hear the other side of the story, when they all arrived in Spain and how happy you were to see each other again! Our little critters really worm their way into our hearts, don’t they.
